LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A teenager was arrested Wednesday morning after a gun was found on the grounds of a Louisville high school, leading to a brief lockdown of two school campuses.
According to the Louisville Metro Police Department's Facebook page, officers responded to the rear parking lot of Doss High School at 7601 St. Andrews Church Road around 10:30 a.m. on a report of a person with a gun inside a car. Both Doss High School and nearby Trunnell Elementary School were put on lockdown but have since resumed normal operations.
Shortly after arriving on the scene, officers arrested Tyler Abshire, 18. He is charged with unlawful possession of a handgun on school property. Abshire is not believed to be a student.
Ben Jackey, spokesperson for Jefferson County Public Schools, said there was no indication a threat was tied to the handgun.
