LOUISVILLE, KY - The ramp closure at the intersection of I-64 and Hurstbourne Parkway that was originally scheduled for last week has been moved to this coming weekend.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 5 Office advises motorists that two exit ramps from eastbound Interstate 64 to KY 1747 (Hurstbourne Parkway) will be closed beginning Friday, September 27 through Monday morning, September 30. The exit ramp to northbound Hurstbourne Parkway (Exit 15C) will be closed for bridge deck repairs and replacement of expansion joints. The exit ramp signed for "Local Access" to southbound Hurstbourne Parkway (Exit 15B) will be closed for hauling of materials to the bridge on Exit 15C.
The exit ramps are scheduled for closure from 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 27 until 5:00 a.m. on Monday, September 30. Motorists will be able to access southbound Hurstbourne Parkway from eastbound I-64 via Exit 15A. Motorists wanting to access northbound Hurstbourne Parkway should follow the signed detour via eastbound I-64 to Blankenbaker Parkway (Exit 17), access westbound I-64 and proceed to Hurstbourne Parkway.
MAC Construction and Excavating of New Albany, Ind. was awarded a contract earlier this year for bridge deck restoration and waterproofing on eastbound Interstate 64 over Hurstbourne Parkway. Repairs to the bridge on Exit 15C are part of this project. The contract amount is $326,889 and has a completion date of November 15, 2013.
