After hearing three days of testimony a jury finds an Evansville man guilty of murder.

Hubert Mayhugh, III, was found guilty by a jury Thursday afternoon in the killing of Keith Vaughn, last year.

Also charged with murder in the case are Vaughn's wife Megan Mecum and Mayhugh's cousin, James Levi Mayhugh. Both Mecum and James Mayhugh's trials are slated to begin before the end of the year.

"In a case where three suspects are charged with Murder, it can be difficult for a jury to understand that more than one person is responsible for a loss of life," said Chief Trial Deputy Michael J. Perry. "The jury in this case did a great job of paying attention to the evidence and I believe ultimately made the correct decision; Hubert Mayhugh killed Keith Vaughn. I want to thank Deputy Prosecutor Ryan Hatfield, Evansville Police Detective Stacy Spalding, all of the law enforcement personnel who assisted in the investigation of the case and the Ladies and Gentlemen of the jury for their service."

The jury also found Mayhugh guilty of other crimes he was charged with including armed robbery, burglary and theft.

A sentencing hearing for Mayhugh has been set for October 23 at 10:00 a.m.

Mayhugh is facing 45-65 years in the Indiana Department of Corrections.
