Man hit on I-64 has died; police 'aware of driver's identity'

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – The man who was hit on I-64 on Sept. 12 died Sunday night.

The Jefferson County Coroner's office said Chad McQuilling died around 7 p.m. from multiple blunt-force injuries.

McQuilling was standing beside his stopped Ford F-150 on westbound I-64, trying to put gas in his truck, when he was hit. The driver of a newer model Kia Sorrento fled the scene, according to police.

Monday morning, an LMPD spokesman confirmed to WAVE 3 News that officers are aware of the driver's identity. Police will submit a case to the Commonwealth Attorney's office to determine whether or not to file criminal charges.
