LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A man was arrested for attacking a woman while she was jogging in downtown Louisville.

On Friday, September 27 at 11 a.m. on the corner of Liberty Street and 4th Street, police said Frankie Smallwood, 35, a man with no permanent address in Louisville, attacked a female jogger. The intersection where the victim said the incident occurred is at the entrance of the entertainment complex, Fourth Street Live!, and is close to several hotels, office buildings and Louisville's City Hall.

The police report indicates Smallwood blocked the victim's running path with a bicycle and repeatedly bumped her with it while lunging and swinging at her head. The victim said he was threatening to kill her. After some time, police said he charged her on his bicycle, forcing her into the street in the path of moving cars.

The victim was able to flag down a police officer as Smallwood fled. She filed a police report against him. About an hour later, officers found him in an alley a half a block away from the original incident. The victim identified him.

As police attempted to arrest him, he began screaming; charging at the victim and trying to head butt an officer.

Smallwood was charged with first degree wanton endangerment, disorderly conduct, menacing and third degree assault.
