LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Services are set to honor renowned hand surgeon Dr. Harold Kleinert.
Kleinert started his practice in hand surgery in Louisville in 1953. He passed away Sunday, September 29 at the age of 91. He is remembered as a true medical pioneer who helped save hundreds of thousands of patients' hands and inspired countless other surgeons.
"One of the great things about Dr. Kleinert is he was a teacher. And he believed in creating a better practice of better surgeons. He was a great mentor, great colleague, great friend," said Kim Hite, VP of KentuckyOne Health Surgical Services.
Kleinert's visitation was Sunday, October 6 from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Scott Funeral Home in Jeffersonville, Indiana. His funeral will be held at The Cathedral of the Assumption in Louisville on Monday at 2 p.m.
