LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – The Louisville Skating Academy announces they are hosting the Eastern Great Lakes Figure Skating Championships at Iceland Sports Complex from October 4-8.
This major qualifying event involves skaters from 7 states surrounding and including Kentucky. This championship is the first step in the qualifying process leading to the 2014 U.S. Figure Skating Championships held in Boston in January 2014 which is the qualifying competition prior to the selection of the 2014 U.S. Olympic figure skating team.
Competing at the Louisville event will be top figure skaters including, two-time U.S. champion Alissa Czisny as well as four boys and five girls from the Louisville Skating Academy. "The Louisville skating community is so excited to have skaters of this caliber competing here," says Rebecca Hatch-Purnell, of the LSA committee.
Tickets for the October 4-8 event will be $10 per day or $35 for an all-event pass. All tickets will be sold at the door.
