LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Abdul Sharif thought all of his memories of his grandmother were lost thanks to the work of a thief. Thursday, he learned there had been a breakthrough in the case.

Sharif had documented photos of the last few years of his grandmother's life in hopes of sharing her story.

"I visited her in the nursing home past couple of years taking pictures of her and also done audio recordings of her so I could present it to my father uncles and aunts as well," said Sharif.

Those photos were stored on a laptop inside his Old Louisville apartment. The laptop and other items were taken from him during a break-in.

Sharif learned Thursday that Louisville Metro Police found his belongings and arrested Rontoya Little.

Sharif said police do have the laptop. He's not sure if his pictures are still on the computer, but he's glad to have the thief off the streets.

Little was booked into Louisville Metro Corrections on a charge of burglary. He will be arraigned tomorrow morning.
