Thousands of pumpkins to be carved, displayed in Iroquois Park

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Artists from around Kentuckiana are hard at work whittling away at pumpkins for a second year.

The 2nd annual Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular will take place along a walking trail in Iroquois Park and feature thousands jack-o-lanterns created by local artists.

More than 5,000 pumpkins, some weighing as much as 1,500 pounds, will be used throughout the 3-week event as pumpkins are removed and replaced. The walk will be set to music and will begin outside of the Iroquois Amphitheater and continue down a trail the length of five football fields.

Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular will run from Oct. 9 to Nov. 2 and will be open from dusk to 11 p.m. on Sunday through Thursday and dusk to midnight on Friday and Saturday.

Tickets range from $9 to $15, with discounts for seniors and children 12 and under.

Proceeds from the event benefit the Louisville Metro Parks Foundation.
