LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Amongst the international figures and celebrities getting recognized Thursday night at the Muhammad Ali Humanitarian Awards, including former Unites States  President Jimmy Carter and Christina Aguilera, is a Louisville man who would tell you he doesn't fit in with that group.

Mark Hogg has traveled the world for years helping lead WaterStep and save lives in more than 30 countries using portable purifiers.

While Hogg said he's not looking for awards he believes being a recipient of an Muhammad Ali Humanitarian Award will make a difference.

"I feel like there will be more opportunities, folks to connect with this. We hope and pray more lives will be saved with safe water," said Hogg.

Hogg said everyone at WaterStep was surprised, humbled and ready to make a difference using the award with The Greatest's name on it, "It's a great exciting honorable time to be connected with this man. The legacy legend as he tries to help us remember we need to be helping each other out."

When I met Hogg about 15 years ago he had hair as long as Michael Bolton so he joked he can at least relate to him. Hogg also said he sings at home so he said can connect with Christina Aguilera.  As for meeting former President Carter he said he can't even fathom, but his one request for the event was to sit next to him.
