Woman killed in west Louisville crash identified

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – The woman who died after she was involved in a motor vehicle accident in west Louisville Thursday evening has been identified.

According to Jefferson County Deputy Coroner Larry Carroll, Jonisha Sanders was pronounced dead at University of Louisville Hospital at 6:58 p.m. following the accident at the intersection of 22nd Street and Grand Avenue.

Louisville Metro police, witnesses told officers Sanders, was driving an Escalade westbound on Grand Avenue when she failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a pickup truck. The impact of the crash caused both vehicles to spin.

The man driving the pickup truck was taken to University of Louisville Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The LMPD Traffic Unit is investigating the cause of the accident. Funeral arrangements for Sanders are pending.
