Flash flooding forces evacuations, rescues

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A Flash Flood Warning was extended through Sunday evening for Jefferson County, KY as a storm system dumped on Louisville the third-largest rain amount in recorded history.

As much as nine inches of rain was expected to fall before the system moves out of the area.

Louisville Metro Police rescued numerous drivers whose vehicles stalled in flooded streets Saturday night and into the early morning hours on Sunday. There were no immediate reports of injuries. 

Authorities also reported scattered flooding in some residential areas as rain continued to fall on Sunday. More than 100 people were evacuated from their homes.
