Bras Across the Bluegrass strings up support for those affected by breast cancer

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Don't be surprised if you start seeing ladies' underwear hanging around outside Oxmoor Mall.

Bras Across the Bluegrass kicks off Monday, October 7.

New or gently used bras are being accepted until Saturday, October 12 in the Oxmoor Mall parking lot off of Shelbyville Road in the St. Matthews neighborhood of Louisville in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

For every bra donated, Ashcroft & Oak Jewelers will give $1 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

The bras will be displayed along Shelbyville Road in front of Oxmoor Mall as a show of support and reflection for all those in the Louisville community that have been affected by breast cancer.

According to the event's sponsors—98.9 Radio Now, 100.5 Gen X Radio and Ashcroft & Oak Jewelers—Bras Across the Bluegrass strung nearly 3,000 bras along Shelbyville Road last year, resulting in a $3,000 donation to the NBCF.

Now in its second year, the sponsors hope to stretch the "Sutherland's Hardware Boulevard of Bras" all the way across the Oxmoor Center parking lot.
