LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A man who admitted to robbing a gas station told police he did so to "make a political statement," according to an arrest report.

Police said a man went into the Shell at 1123 S. Floyd St. near the intersection with St. Catherine Street on Saturday, October 5 at 7 a.m. and committed a robbery. An arrest report states the man took out a knife and demanded cash from an employee, which he took before leaving the store.

Police said they found Austin Pugsley, 27, several hours later in the same clothes as the suspect and in possession of a knife.

Officers said he admitted to robbing the Shell and told them he did it to "get money to buy crack and also to make a political statement."

Pugsley was arrested and charged with one felony count with first degree robbery.
