LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A banged-up car driving down the road landed its driver in a heap of trouble before dawn Tuesday, including charges that he left the scene of an accident.

Just before 2 a.m. , an officer noticed a red 1998 BMW 328i driving on Birchwood Avenue, approaching the intersection with Brownsboro Road, with parts of the car dragging from the ground and white smoke coming from it.

The BMW had heavy damage to its passenger-side front end, according to a police report, and the front passenger tire had blown.

When the officer pulled over the car, a closer look found radiator fluid and Freon spewing from under the hood, telltale signs of a recent wreck.

Asked what happened, Jon Huber, 21, of Louisville, reportedly told the officer another car had hit him. Asked about it further, police said, and Huber became "belligerent," saying he didn't know what else the officer wanted.

Further back on Birchwood Avenue, the officer found two parked vehicles that had been hit; red paint rubbing off on both, along with a BMW logo thought to have been attached to Huber's car.

The suspect was not cooperative for field-sobriety tests, according to a police report, which indicated a measured blood-alcohol content of 0.242, triple the legal limit.

Huber is charged with failure to report a traffic accident, leaving the scene of an accident and DUI second offense.
