Mason County, Ky. (FOX19) -

A woman accused of shooting her half-sister in the head following a Facebook argument has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder.

Police in Mason County, Ky. say that a 28-year-old woman shot her half-sister in the head following an argument on Facebook. Authorities were called to the 4200 block of Walton Pike on October 9 around 11:30 a.m.

Upon arrival, police found one woman suffering from a gunshot wound on the back of her head. The victim has been identified as 25-year-old Arica Woodruff. Woodruff was flown to the University of Kentucky Hospital.

Arrested at the scene was Woodruff's half-sister, Ankara Alvarado. Alvarado, 28, was arrested and charged with attempted murder.

Officers say that the confrontation between the half-sisters was sparked by a social media post.

"We have received information that this was sparked over some type of argument that took place on Facebook," explains Sheriff Patrick Boggs.

Authorities say that Alvarado pleaded not guilty on Monday. Her preliminary hearing has been set for October 21 at 10:30 a.m.
