Tornado-ravaged towns rebuild from tragedy

MARYSVILLE, IN (WAVE) - October 9 was all about coming full circle for people in the areas of southern Indiana hardest hit by the March 2, 2012 tornadoes. The generosity of you, the WAVE 3 News viewer, helped greatly as smiles replaced the tears that were common back after the first Friday in of March 2012.

For the past year and a half, a rebuilding project call V-ROC, Volunteers Rebuilding Our Community, teamed up with the Southern Indiana Salvation Army to rebuild 14 homes and repair another 265 - all impacted by the tornadoes.

A huge part of that project was almost $500,000 given by WAVE 3 News viewers during the telethon days after the storm. On this day, the 14th and final house was completed in Marysville. In Henryville, we talked to one family that was one of the first to benefit of the rebuilding project.

Eighteen months ago, lives were changed forever across Kentucky and Indiana. The road to repair and rebuild those homes has been quite the journey for all of those involved. In Henryville, we talked to one family that was one of the first to benefit of the rebuilding project.
