(Louisville, KY.) Back court mates, Terry Rozier and Chris Jones combine for 15 rebounds as the Red team knocked off the White 70-65 in University of Louisville's second Red-White Scrimmage.
UofL senior All-American, Russ Smith led the White squad with 22 points and eight assists, but also had nine turnovers while playing all 32 minutes of the game. Smith was joined by Anton Gill and Tim Henderson in the back court. Those three were out rebounded by the Jones-Rozier combination, 15-8. "For Chris (Jones) being 5'9" and Terry (Rozier) being 6'1", you get 15 rebounds from the 1-2 spot which was terrific," said head coach, Rick Pitino.
The highlight of the game came with thirty three seconds left. The Red team led 67-64 when Rozier stole the ball from Gill at half court, took it the rest of the way, and slammed it home over Gill. After the game, Rozier didn't want to rub it in the face of his former roommate at Hargrave Academy. "I know if (Gill) has his chance, he'll get me back, so I won't speak too soon," said Rozier. Gill, who is generally soft spoken, took it all in stride. "It was a good play. He plucked me, you just gotta go make a play," said Gill.
Gill will get his chance at revenge in the Cards' next Red-White scrimmage on Saturday, October 12th.
