Garvin Gates bring sunshine back to Old Louisville

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The Garvin Gates Blues Festival is a time for fun and is also a stark difference from last weekend in Old Louisville. Vendors and visitors were turned away from the St. James Court Art Show as they prepared for the worst.

Rakia Mahmoud makes and sells custom jewelry and lives in Old Louisville.“We already checked the weather and we found out that it was going to be a nice one so we decided to come and do this,” said Mahmoud.

There’s food, drinks, arts and crafts at the Garvin Gate Music Festival which is made possible, in part, by the St. James Court Art Show.

“You know that was shame, that was the first time in 57 years and that’s probably the premiere festival in Louisville,” said Howard Rosenberg, Garvin Gate Chairman.

As Louisvillians enjoy world-class entertainment right in their neighborhood, they are grateful for the opportunity to support their own.
