ALBUQUERQUE, NM (CBS5/AP) -

A total of 20 stores in Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado received contaminated gas from a northwestern New Mexico refinery.

Western Refining spokesman Gary Hanson says a gasket failed, allowing water to leak into a petroleum storage tank near Gallup last week. The company has established a claims hotline.

Western Refining is paying for repairs, provided there's documentation for the Oct. 8 gasoline purchases at those stores and repairs.

Two stores in far southwestern Colorado also received contaminated gas. The supplies since have been replaced.

People who purchased fuel on Oct. 8 from any of these stores should call 877-511-1012 for help filing a claim.

"We want to correct this situation for anyone that was impacted by our mistake," said Corporate Communications Vice President Gary Hanson. "We immediately stopped sales and removed and replaced the gasoline at each of these locations."
