Nearly 500 Cincinnati Youth Collaborative (CYC) students across ten area schools are promoting Breast Cancer Awareness Month through several activities and fundraisers during the month of October.
Seniors at Western
Hills High School will host a balloon release on October 17. Approximately 35 students will think pink to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Several other schools have hosted or will host activities in October to raise breast cancer awareness, including Aiken, Finneytown, North College Hill, Oyler, Purcell Marian, Taft, Winton Woods, Withrow and Woodward.
North College Hill and Woodward will also hold a balloon release, Purcell is selling pink tie dye shirts and Withrow students can purchase a ticket for 'Pink out of uniform Fridays'.
The students from each school participate in CYC's Jobs for Cincinnati Graduates program, which incorporates community service into a yearlong curriculum for high school students and dropouts with significant challenges. Member develop their helping skills through involvement in service projects.
