Boogie, the dog who gained national attention for running the Evansville Half-Marathon, has died.

The eight-year-old Chocolate Lab received a medal for running the race even though he was never entered.

Boogie apparently ran away from home and joined the runners at the beginning and completed the 13.1 mile race in two hours and 15 minutes.

Boogie's family posted on Facebook that the dog died of a heart attack on Tuesday.

When Boogie crossed the finish line, no one knew who he belonged to, but he was eventually reunited with his owners.
