History of medical helicopter crashes in Mid-South

MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - Le Bonheur Children's Hospital CEO Mary Armour said in a news conference Tuesday morning, "We just can never expect it to be this kind of risk when you come to work in the morning."

The medical helicopter crash that killed three people near Somerville, TN is not the first crash that has happened in the Mid-South in recent years.

July 28, 2007: A medical helicopter crashed at a Quitman County, Mississippi hospital. Nobody was killed.

March 25, 2010: A Hospital Wing helicopter crashed near Brownsville, TN killing the pilot and two nurses on board.

June 20, 2013: An air rescue team in Arkansas had to make an emergency landing. Everyone on board walked away from the crash.

September 19, 2013: A MedStat helicopter crash landed in Madison County, Mississippi. The chopper was carrying a patient to a hospital in Jackson. The pilot was injured in the crash.
