Gasoline tanker overturns on Dixie Highway

Emergency crews were called to an overturned gasoline tanker Tuesday afternoon on Dixie Highway near the Kenton/Grant County line.

It happened on U.S. 25 near the intersection of Derby Drive involving a mid-sized truck. Authorities said the vehicle overturned on its top and was leaking gas. There were also wires down in the area following the accident.

According to a statement from Kenton County Police, the scene remained "active and unsafe" as of 12:30 p.m.

The driver of the tanker was taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center with minor injuries.

There is no word yet on the cause of the crash. The highway has been shut down in the area as crews work to clear the scene.
