LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A Louisville man has been arrested on escape charges after cutting off the monitoring anklet he received as part of the Home Incarceration Program.

An arrest warrant says Kenneth D. Hackney, 30, removed the anklet soon after he was placed into HIP on September 17.

On October 6, Hackney was spotted by an officer and pulled over in a traffic stop. Although police had him at gunpoint, Hackney sped off and led police on a high speed chase.

The pursuit was called off after it was determined to be too dangerous to continue.

Hackney was arrested at 11:55 p.m. October 22 in the 5300 block of New Cut Road. He was booked into Louisville Metro Corrections on charges of escape, tampering with a prisoner monitoring device, theft by failure to make required disposition of property (the monitoring device), fleeing or evading police, two counts of wanton endangerment. He is also facing a variety of outstanding charges.
