65 cases of rare bourbon stolen from distillery

FRANKLIN COUNTY, KY (WAVE) – Police are asking for help to identify the man police said took dozens of cases of expensive bourbon right from the distillery.

According to Franklin County Sheriff Pat Melton the man stole 65 cases of 20-year-old Pappy Van Winkle bourbon from the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort and tried to sell them to a retail store, "He's goes up to the clerk in there, and starts talking to the clerk, and seeing if the clerk had any interest, uh to buy a large quantity of pappy van winkle. That's what's significant, the large quantity of Pappy Van Winkle."

Melton said the suspect in the video drives a green Ford F-150 and appeared to be wearing a Bardstown High School sweatshirt.
