Accused rapist, alleged burglar escape from Kentucky detention center

WHITLEY COUNTY, KY (WAVE) – Two inmates escaped from a Kentucky detention center and police are asking for the public's help to locate them.

According to officials in Whitley County, Justin R. Cornett, 24, and James Fields, 42, escaped from the Whitley County Detention Center around 6:15 p.m. Friday.

Cornett is described as being 5'9" tall, 150 pounds with hazel eyes. Officials said he was being held on charges of burglary, resisting arrest and a drug violation.

Fields 42, is described as being 6' tall and weighing 180 pounds. Officials said he is bald, with blue eyes and has scars and tattoos on back of head, his back and his arms. Fields was being held on felony charges of terrorist threatening, being a fugitive from another state, theft of identity and a rape conviction in Tennessee.

Both men were wearing orange jumpsuits when officers last saw them. Officials said they do not believe either man is armed, but they should be considered dangerous.
