LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Halloween isn't only for people, but their little dogs too!

The Shamrock Pet Foundation held its pet costume contest Saturday. More than just Toto, dogs came out dressed as everything from the Dark Knight to a flying monkey from the ‘Wizard of Oz.'

The event was to support the foundation's mission of helping control the pet population. "If everyone can spay and neuter, fewer pets would be euthanized. And as a secondary product of that we do foster animals into homes until their adopted out into lifetime homes," said Mary Casey with the Shamrock Pet Foundation.

"They're a great organization, so we're glad we could come out and support them," said Megan McGrath, who brought her dog Feeney to the event.

A handful of local businesses also donated portions of their profits for the day.
