CINCINNATI (AP) - The Japan Society of Greater Cincinnati says Japan's ambassador to the United States and the president of the University of Cincinnati will take part in its 25th anniversary celebration.

The society says Ambassador Kenichiro (KIN'-ay-chee-roh) Sasae (Suh-SEYE') and UC leader Santa Ono (OH'-noh) will speak Nov. 1 at the dinner event in downtown Cincinnati. Ono is the son of Japanese immigrants, and is the school's first Asian-American president.

The Japan Society is a nonprofit organization that promotes cultural awareness and fostering ties between the Cincinnati region and Japan.
