Firefighters battle massive fire in Hadley strip mall

HADLEY, MA (WSHM) -

Firefighters spent Sunday night battling a massive fire at a strip mall located at 206 Russell Street.

The Hadley Fire Department told CBS 3 that the first 911 call came in at 7:41 p.m.

When they arrived there was heavy fire coming from the structure, which is described as a 15-unit mix occupancy of both residential and commercial units.

Hadley police also evacuated an adjacent hotel as a precautionary measure.

Fire officials said there were 10 departments fighting the fire, with approximately 60 firefighters on scene.

They also said one firefighter was injured and transported to a local hospital, however the injury is non-life threatening .

The fire is currently under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police assigned to the State Fire Marshal's office, as well as the Hadley fire and police departments.
