AMBER Alert father charged with abuse of 9-month-old

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A man already in jail for charges that sparked an AMBER Alert was arrested by Louisville Metro Police for abusing another one of his children.

According to an arrest warrant, new charges were placed against Joshua Yeager, 24, early October 27.

The warrant states on that October 4 Yeager struck his son around the face and head. It also says Yeager stuck his thumb and fingers into the child's mouth when he began to cry.

On October 8, an Amber Alert was issued after Yeager had taken his daughter, Jaylynn Maxey, age 2, on October 4. Louisville Metro Police said Yeager had assaulted Jaylynn's mother and 8-month-old brother outside a Walmart at Bardstown Road and the Gene Snyder Freeway.

Jaylynn was found safe after Kentucky State Police caught Yeager near Upton, Kentucky around 12:30 a.m. October 9.

The new charge against Yeager is for with one count of criminal abuse of a child 12 and under. He is also accused of assaulting the child's mother in Glasgow, KY. That incident is being investigated by the Glasgow Police Department.
