LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A 10-year-old boy is honoring breast cancer survivors with his Halloween pumpkin.

According to Michele Lauersdorf, her 5th grade son, Justin, started the Halloween season excited to carve one of his favorite team's logo on his pumpkin.

His mind changed when he found out one of his classmate's mother had breast cancer and his mother explained to him there was more to breast cancer awareness than wearing pink.

Justin's mother said soon after they talked he went to work on a new pumpkin idea. She said he downloaded a picture of the ribbon, cut it out and stenciled the design on his pumpkin.

When it came time to set the carved creation out on the porch Justin asked if they could place the pumpkin on his classmate's porch instead. His mother said they hopped in the car and did just that.
