Duke Energy and the Cincinnati Zoo have teamed up for a bamboo removal project Tuesday in Park Hills, Kentucky.
Duke contractors worked in backyards along Emerson Road where bamboo has grown into the right-of-way and too close to power lines. Duke says vegetation growth such as trees and overgrown shrubbery can pose a threat to equipment as well as public safety.
Officials from the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden were then given the bamboo to feed to zoo animals.
It'll feed several different zoo residents, including the red panda, Sumatran, Indian and black rhinos, takin, camel, okapi and bongo.
