On Friday, October 25, the same jury took only 17 minutes to convict Gibson of murdering Christine Whitis, 75, of Clarksville, Indiana. The body of Whitis, a longtime friend of Gibson's late mother, was found inside Gibson's New Albany garage on April 19, 2012.

During the trial, graphic photographs of the crime scene moved some people to tears. Testimony revealed Gibson sexually assaulted Whitis before choking her to death.
