LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – An employee at a Louisville retail store has been arrested for helping a customer steal merchandise.

An arrest report states Ilexus A. Barnett, 39, of Louisville, was working a register at Macy's in Jefferson Mall on October 29 when a man brought a number of clothing items to her register. The report says Barnett rang up one of the items, valued at $10, and put the rest of the merchandise into two store bags. The man then left the store without paying for the additional items.

The total cost of the items was $1,032.

Barnett told Louisville Metro Police and Macy's loss prevention personnel that she and the man are "friends" and that he asked her to "hook him up."

According to police, the unidentified man later came back to the store and dumped the items at the door.

Barnett was arrested for theft by deception.
