LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Louisville Metro Animal Services (LMAS) is the best resource for lost and found pets, as it takes in the majority of lost pets in the metro area, according to Andrea Blair with the Kentucky Humane Society.
LMAS has an online system people can use to register lost or found pets, and it is accessed by Animal Control officers. Click here to access the page.
LMAS recently hired a full-time lost and found coordinator whose job is to reunite lost pets with their owners.
Blair says the Kentucky Humane Society also takes in lost pets. All stray pets it takes in from Good Samaritans are listed on this webpage for six days. If the animals are not found by their owners within six days, they are assessed and placed for adoption.
KHS has a separate webpage containing other resource to help reunite owners with their lost pets. Click here for more information.
