KSP trooper injured in Elizabethtown crash

ELIZABETHTOWN, KY (WAVE) – A Kentucky State Police trooper was injured in a single-vehicle accident in Hardin County that investigators blamed at least partially on the weather.

The crash happened around 7 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of New Glendale and West Rhudes roads just south of Elizabethtown.

Commanders at the scene said Trooper Shannan White was driving on New Glendale when her cruiser went into the ditch and ended up near an electrical pole. Emergency responders took While to Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, and investigators couldn't immediately provide an update on her injuries.

It is unclear if White was on a run at the time of the crash.

The rain and strong winds are at least a contributing factor to the crash, a state police commander said at the scene.

Crews closed the road for at least two hours to allow investigators to survey the crash scene. They then pulled White's Chevrolet cruiser onto a flatbed truck and took it away.
