'Wear It Forward' coat drive launches November 4

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - After a successful back-to-school clothing drive in August, WAVE 3 News is again partnering with JCPS and the 15th District PTA's Clothing Assistance Program (CAP) to provide winter coats to underprivileged students. The first-ever "Wear It Forward Coats for Kids" drive launches November 4 and runs through November 22.

"In order to meet the academic needs of students, it's imperative that we first meet their most basic needs," said JCPS Superintendent Donna Hargens. "I'm calling on all JCPS students, employees, families and community members to contribute in some way if possible. We want out students in need to feel the warmth of our community's spirit."

  • Gloves
  • Mittens
  • Sweaters
  • Pants

Clothing of all sizes will be accepted. Parents and students can donate through their school.

For 40 years, the 15th District PTA's Clothing Assistance Program has provided clothing to underprivileged JCPS students since many of our community's families face each school year without resources to provide school clothes for their children. CAP has clothed tens of thousands of students since its inception.

Wear It Forward began when WAVE 3 News Anchor Dawne Gee saw the need of JCPS students and asked how she could help.
