Father charged in AMBER Alert case facing robbery charges

ELIZABETHTOWN, KY (WAVE) - The father accused of leading police on a chase with his daughter who was the center of an AMBER Alert case IN THE CAR is facing additional charges.

According to Kentucky State Police, Joshua Yeager, 24, was served an arrest warrant on Thursday, October 31, for robbery.

KSP detectives said they issued the warrant for Yeager based on evidence obtained from an armed robbery at a Family Dollar in Brandenburg, Kentucky on October 6.

Charges for criminal abuse of a child 12 and under were also placed against Yeager on October 27. Those charged resulted from an incident on October 4 when he allegedly struck his son 9-month-old son around the face and head then stuck his thumb and fingers into the child's mouth when he began to cry, according to a warrant.

On October 8, an Amber Alert was issued after Yeager had taken his daughter, Jaylynn Maxey, age 2, on October 4. Louisville Metro Police said Yeager had assaulted Jaylynn's mother and 8-month-old brother outside a Walmart at Bardstown Road and the Gene Snyder Freeway.

Jaylynn was found safe after Kentucky State Police caught Yeager near Upton, Kentucky around 12:30 a.m. October 9.

The robbery warrant was served to Yeager at the Hardin County Detention Center where he is being held on unrelated charges.
