NELSON COUNTY, KY (WAVE) – Officers made an arrest after hundreds of shoes donated for children in need were stolen.

According to Bardstown police, after collecting around 250 pairs of shoes they were left with only 42 after the rest were stolen out of the Bardstown Rotary Club's storage space.

Thursday officers arrested Brandon Humphrey, 31, in connection to the theft after tips led them to his home.

Humphrey is charged with receiving stolen property and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Police said they were able to recover some of the shoes during Humphrey's arrest. The Bardstown Rotary Club still has a goal to donate 300 pairs of shoes to children. If you would like to help them reach their goal you can donate shoes at one of their drop boxes placed around the county until November 14.
