LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Residents inside of a Pleasure Ridge Park home were able to escape after their house caught fire just before midnight Thursday.

According to MetroSafe, the fire started in the 5000 block of Ramona Lane.

When PRP firefighters arrived on the scene they found flames were starting to show through the roof and had already reached the side and back of a two story home. It took crews around 35 minutes to put out the flames.

Everyone inside the home was able to exit safely. The home had heavy fire and water damage and the Red Cross will provide assistance for the residents.

Firefighters on the scene said the fire might have started from a lightning strike or a power outage could have triggered the flames. Louisville Metro Arson crews and the PRP Fire Department are continuing to investigate the cause of the fire.
