'Freak accident' may cost teen an eye; wet roads possibly a factor

LARUE COUNTY, KY (WAVE) - A teen driver may lose an eye after what police are calling a ‘freak accident.'

According to the sheriff, a single vehicle accident occurred around 7:30 Thursday night in Larue County. Emergency crews arrived to find a young man, possibly 18.

Police said was traveling on Lyons Station Road when he hit a tree that had fallen into the road. They believe he didn't see the tree and struck it with a lot of force with wet roads or speed possibly being a factor. The impact was extreme and a piece of wood entered the driver's eye.
