Two people have been charged after a 10-year-old girl was found dead in a burnt trash can outside Landmark at Coventry Pointe Apartments in Lawrenceville.
The investigation launched around 3:45 a.m. Saturday after Eman Moss made a distraught call to 911.
Gwinnett County Police Sgt. Brian Doan said the man told police he was suicidal and his daughter was dead. Moss told dispatchers his daughter drank some type of chemical and died.
Officers arrived at the apartment complex and Moss was standing in the breezeway of building 1100. He pointed to a trash can in the recreation area for the apartment complex.
Officers went over to the trash can and located the body of Moss' daughter Emani Moss. Police said her body had severe burns.
Gwinnett County police charged Eman Moss and the girl's stepmother, Tiffany Moss, with felony murder, cruelty in the first degree, and concealing a body.
They are both being held at the Gwinnett County Detention Center.
