INDIANAPOLIS, IN (WAVE) - The driver of a church van filled with passengers was killed in a rollover crash on Indianapolis' northeast side Sunday night, according to officials.
Police were called to the scene at 46th and Emerson shortly before 8 p.m. where they pronounced the driver dead at the scene.
The van was from the Jesus House Prayer Temple and several of the riders were children. Police said 11 passengers sustained minor injuries requiring hospital treatment and a 7-year-old girl was transported in serious condition. Her injuries do not appear life-threatening, according to police.
Police Lt. Christopher Bailey said the van was going westbound through a green light at an intersection when a northbound car did not stop and hit the van.
Initially the driver of the other vehicle fled the scene but was later caught by officers.
