Bob Roncker sells The Running Spot stores

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

Rob Roncker and his wife Mary Ann have sold their four "Running Spot" stores after 32 years of ownership.

Bob Roncker's Running Spot, with locations in O'Bryonville, Glendale, Loveland and Newport, are now owned by the Denver-based Running Specialty Group (RSG). RSG is a corporation recently formed by the Gart brothers who are the third generation in their family to be in the sporting goods business.

"We needed to figuratively pass the baton and enable others to be the next stewards of Bob Roncker's Running Spot," stated Bob Roncker in a press released posted on the store's website. "Please note, for me, it is a sale, not retirement."

He says he plans to be very active with the stores in the future despite the new ownership. Roncker will continue to oversee training programs and community outreach events.

Terms of the sale were not disclosed.

Bob Roncker and his wife opened the first store in O'Bryonville in March of 1981. The store's website describes where the 'spot' came from.

"We wanted people to feel that here was a place (or spot) where they would feel comfortable receiving advice and merchandise that would help them with their chosen sport."
