LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A 19-year-old Louisville man is accused of firing a gun at a city park.

A witness told police John R. Edwards fired a handgun into the air at Algonquin Park at 1614 Cypress around 3:00 Monday afternoon.

Officers stopped Edwards and two juveniles at Burwell and Cypress a short time later. According to an arrest report, police found the gun inside a pocket of Edwards' younger brother. The juvenile was cited and released to his mother.

Police said Edwards provided false information about himself, giving officers his other brother's personal information.

Officers said Edwards was highly uncooperative and refused to get into a squad car. Once inside the car, he began acting erratic. The arrest report states that when officers opened the door to control him, he slid out of the car and tried to flee. He had to be restrained while transported.

Edwards is charged with 1st degree wanton endangerment, giving police a false name and escape.
