LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A son was arrested for stomping on his mother's face while wearing boots.

On Monday, a warrant was issued for Abdi Yusuf, 24, of Louisville, after someone called police for his mother. When officers found her, she was immediately taken to surgery at University Hospital.

The police report filed stated Yusuf and his mother were arguing when he stomped on her face several times before fleeing the scene.

His mother suffered severe bruising, swelling and possible fractures from the incident, according to police. She is still in the hospital as of Tuesday afternoon, in fair condition.

Officers caught up to Yusuf at 1835 Carl Court in south Louisville, near Manslick Road and the Watterson Expressway later that day around 6 p.m.

He was arrested on the spot and charged with one felony count of first degree assault.
