East Texans may not have to drive as far to get visit one of the famous Buc-ee's travel stops.

WFAA in Dallas is reporting that the Terrell City Council is expected to vote Tuesday night to rezone land in Terrell to give the famous Texas-based chain of travel stops its first North Texas location. Buc-ee's founder and owner Arch "Beaver" Aplin will be in Terrell on Tuesday to close the deal.

Buc-ee's stores have carved themselves a niche in the Texas tourism industry as a must-see destination, thanks to the huge plaza full of food and shopping - and don't forget the immaculate bathrooms.

If approved, the location will be one of Buc-ee's flagship stores, much like the ones in Bastrop and New Braunfels. The 67,000 square feet New Braunfels store features 60 fuel pumps, 31 cash registers, 80 fountain dispensers and four Icee machines.

Buc-ee's locations, which are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, sell their own beef jerky, candy, trail mixes, granola, salsa and preserves. Of course, no visit to the store is complete without trying the "Beaver Nuggets," corn puffs glazed with caramel and butter.

If the deal is approved, construction is slated to begin in January 2014 and the store would be completed by November 2014.

Terrell's mayor said Tuesday will also bring news of more development in the area. The Terrell Market Center has also been advertised in that same location.

Buc-ee's is headquartered in Lake Jackson. Other new locations scheduled for 2014 include Texas City, Baytown and Temple.
