LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - It is great to see that after nearly a half century without a veterans parade, Louisville will host one for the third year in a row Monday. Honoring the dedication and service our military veterans have made and continue to make it worth celebrating every day.
The parade, and others like it throughout WAVE Country, honors the half a million Indiana and nearly 340,000 Kentucky veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.
Veterans Day is a time to remember and recognize veterans. We salute all who do this throughout the year - like those who have volunteered with the Bluegrass Honor Flight chapter and others like it nationwide to fly our heroes to Washington, D.C. to visit and reflect at their memorials. The next one scheduled for Bluegrass is June 6 of next year, the 70th anniversary of D-Day.
Many contribute to the Wounded Warrior Project, Wounded Wear Project and others.
Take a moment Monday to thank a veteran. And a big thank you as well to all who honor them with outreach work throughout the year!
