Fall leaves bring color, cleanup

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - You may have noticed the beautiful, bright fall colors across Kentuckiana.

Early October warmth and heavy rain lead to a delay in the fall color.

Kentuckiana has more than 175 species of trees that allow for a wide variance of color, but time is running out if you want some great fall color shots.

The remainder of the leaves are expected to come down soon and it's time to start thinking about the cleanup process.

Residents in Louisville will be able to take advantage of a free leaf drop-off locations.

The following sites will be open from November 12 through December 7:

  • 10500 Lower River Road (corner of Bethany Lane)
    Tuesday - Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • East District Public Works Yard, located at 595 Hubbards Lane
    Tuesday - Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Waste Reduction Center, located at 636 Meriwether Avenue
    Tuesday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The sites will be closed on Sunday and Monday. Only loose leaves will be accepted.
